What is BlockDos?

BlockDos deals in DDOS mitigation and provides DDOS protection services for different kinds of websites.


What is the key difference between BlockDos and other companies providing similar kind of services?

The main difference is that BlockDos have multiple networks and we are mainly reseller for different companies. At present, there are a few companies which provide true DDOS protection services, and we are reseller for almost all of them. When a client comes to us, and if, none of the networks can handle their attacks, they immediately switch it to other kind of networks or try to work in a mix mod environment. This is one of the ways the attack is distributed across multiple networks and by this way we control the cost as well.


Why should not clients go to other providers or upstream directly instead of coming to BlockDos?

The answer is very simple. In fact, these are our additional level of services we provide to our valued clients. Here at BlockDos, not only we provide DDOS protection, but we also provide support services which enable our valued clients to perform their operations more smoothly. One of the ways of these entails how to set up the firewall, or how to actually protect their own server by only allowing legitimate web traffic to pass through, while rest of the unwanted bulk traffic is remained all blocked and restricted to step inside client’s domain. Similarly, DDOS can attack a site by finding out the mail server or FTP server. In such conditions, we also provide solutions to handle such attacks. Along with that, we also provide 24/7 customer support. Our dedicated customer support is also available in acute emergencies as well. So, we are there for the clients all the time; even if any client is unable to configure his or her server according to our requirement we normally guide them in doing so also.


How many networks BlockDos have?

BlockDos currently works with Staminus network which is pretty good network and have a good and reliable performance in any condition. Our enterprise protection is on GiGe Server which is a rock solid network and we have our own co-location arrangement with Pear One Network as well. We are able to distribute the attacks to many different data centres as well as we can just concentrate the attack or push the attack to one data centre and mitigate it from there. There are many kinds of attacks and each network has its own capability to deal with different DDOS attacks.


What kind of protection BlockDos provide?

We provide all kinds of protection for the website itself. However, when it comes down to PTP network or IRC, it all needs different level of protection then. In such conditions, most of the time clients receive a small SYN attach, acknowledgement attack, GET attack, flood attack and various different kinds of other attacks, and we have got the ability to mitigate all of them so far. We can deal with anything and it just depends on the level of protection the client has chosen for its protection.


What is the capacity of BlockDos network?

Here at BlockDos, we can not disclose any information regarding the existing capacity of BlockDos network, or exactly how big our network is, but I can safely say that I have seen attacks over 6 Gbps mitigated easily through listed BlockDos services.


What does it require to use our BlockDos service?

It’s very simple. The user just has to sign up, choose the level of our service and pay for it. And before this, they have to discuss their requirements with us. If they are already under attack then they have to give us some more information about it. After this, we will provide them an IP. They will use given IP but in their own DNS or in our protected DNS. During all this process, we will be acting as a man in the middle. In other words, all the traffic will come to us; we will clean it and then forward filtered traffic to the user backhand server accordingly.


How does BlockDos protection work?

We have different firewalls and we have also custom firewalls as well. But in today’s world there are lots of attacks which can easily be bypassed from firewall. Firewalls will get a seat in a real traffic and let it pass through. We study each attack and put the filters accordingly. As compared with our competitors, we also offer special custom filtering. We can filter any kind of attack without turning its code or link code. Another unique feature is that we also mail Relay and DNS protection as well. So what Mail Relay does is very simple. For example, you have a server in Germany and you are using BlockDos services. Now the email coming from their server will also reveal the real IP address of their backhand server. We also provide protection against that. Similarly, we provide assistance to deal with incoming Mail Relay in which, whether it’s an incoming or outgoing email, the attacker will never know the exact location as it will get proxy as well.
